TX102 -- This female cougar was struck by a vehicle and killed along County Road 833 in Hendry County between 20-21 September 1995. TX103 -- TX103 remained in her usual area of use south of Highway 41 and west of Monroe Station, making one excursion farther south into Sig Walker Strand. This area of Big Cypress National Preserve now has dry prairies and pines, with standing water only in the cypress strands and domes. TX104 -- This cougar was located in the southern portion of Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve with female panther #9 on 3 January and the following day these two females were joined by male panther #54. TX104 remained with #54 for only one flight and has extender her use area to include the northern portion of Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve during January. TX105 -- TX105 continued to use the pinelands and hardwood hammocks mostly north and west of the Beard Center on Long Pine Key in Everglades National Park. This cougar has extended her use area westward to include the pinelands just east of Sisal Pond. TX106 -- This cougar has moved from her den site in the Picayune Strand State Forest but has generally remained within a three mile radius of the den indicating that she is traveling with a small kitten. TX107 -- TX107 has expanded her area of use in Big Cypress National Preserve, probably in response to the drying conditions in the Turner River Unit and possibly in search of a male. She was located with female panther #23 on one flight this month and has ventured further west into the area used by female panther #55. TX108 -- This cougar continued to use the pinelands and hammocks of Long Pine Key in Everglades National Park. Even though the area continued to dry down, she has not been located outside her usual area of use. Male panther #16 continued to use the same areas as well as pinelands north of the main Park road. TX108 was located with male panther #16 on 29 January. Prepared by Darrell Land, Mark Lotz, Ken Johnson, Deborah Jansen, Jeff Brooks, Sonny Bass, and Lori Oberhofer (2/8/96).
